This Privacy Policy explains how Forward Move, LLC d/b/a My Guardian Link™ (“My Guardian Link,” “Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, discloses, protects, and otherwise processes personal information when you access or use our website, mobile application, platform, urgent communication tools, trusted contact features, notification services, membership plans, group plans, customer support, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

This Privacy Policy applies to consumer users of My Guardian Link. Separate or additional privacy terms may apply to enterprise customers, sponsor groups, referral groups, strategic partners, contact centers, central stations, vendors, business customers, or other organizations.

By using My Guardian Link, creating an account, purchasing a membership, joining a group plan, activating an urgent signal, adding trusted contacts, using location features, submitting emergency information, or otherwise using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read this Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, do not use the Services.

1. IMPORTANT PRIVACY AND EMERGENCY SERVICE NOTICE

My Guardian Link is designed to support urgent communication, trusted contact notification, location sharing, response coordination, and possible escalation to a third-party urgent response contact center, central station, public safety resource, or other appropriate resource when available and appropriate.

My Guardian Link is not 911. My Guardian Link is not a police department, fire department, ambulance service, public safety answering point, government emergency service, emergency medical provider, security company, or law enforcement agency.

Because the Services are designed for urgent communication and response support, certain features require the collection, use, transmission, disclosure, and retention of personal information, including sensitive information such as precise location, emergency contact information, alert details, incident messages, optional emergency profile information, and communication records.

If you activate an urgent signal or use certain features, we may share relevant information with trusted contacts, emergency contacts, caregivers, Urgent Response Coordinators, contact centers, central stations, public safety resources, roadside providers, group administrators, service providers, or other authorized recipients as reasonably necessary to provide the Services.

2.3 Location Information

My Guardian Link is a personal safety and emergency response application designed to protect users during emergencies by connecting them with trusted contacts and authorized Urgent Response Coordinators.

The application uses background location only during an active emergency alert when the user has initiated an Urgent Assist event.

Background location allows My Guardian Link to continue updating the user’s location if the application is minimized, the screen is locked, or the user switches to another application while an emergency is in progress.

Without background location permission, trusted contacts and authorized response personnel would no longer receive updated location information after the application leaves the foreground, significantly reducing the effectiveness of the emergency response.

Background location is a core safety feature of the application.

When Background Location Is Used

Background location is used only after the user intentionally activates an emergency alert.

Examples include:

  • Urgent Assist
  • Protect Me emergency activation
  • Voice activation
  • Smartwatch activation
  • Silent emergency activation

Background location is not used during normal daily use of the application.

The application does not continuously monitor or track users.

Duration of Background Location

Location sharing begins only after an emergency alert has been activated.

Background location sharing automatically stops when:

  • the emergency session ends,
  • the user ends the alert,
  • permissions are revoked,
  • or the session expires (maximum 30 minutes per emergency session unless ended sooner).

Why Background Location Is Necessary

During emergencies, users frequently:

  • lock their phone,
  • place the phone in a pocket,
  • begin running,
  • enter another application,
  • or become unable to interact with the device.

If Android stops providing location updates after the application leaves the foreground, responders may lose the user’s current location.

Background location ensures:

  • trusted contacts continue receiving live updates,
  • authorized Urgent Response Coordinators receive current location,
  • emergency responders receive accurate information,
  • the user can be located if they become incapacitated.

Foreground Location

Foreground location is used when the user:

  • activates an alert
  • views maps
  • confirms an address
  • manages emergency locations
  • views another member’s shared location during an alert

Data Collected

My Guardian Link may collect:

  • Precise GPS coordinates
  • Approximate location
  • GPS accuracy
  • Reverse geocoded address
  • Timestamp of each location update

Data Sharing

Location information may be shared only with authorized recipients, including:

  • Trusted Contacts selected by the user
  • Authorized Urgent Response Coordinators
  • Emergency monitoring services
  • Emergency responders when applicable
  • Cloud infrastructure providers required to securely transmit emergency information

Location information is never sold.

Location information is never shared for advertising purposes.

User Control

Users remain in complete control of location permissions.

Users may:

  • Allow While Using the App
  • Allow All the Time
  • Deny Location
  • Revoke permission at any time through Android Settings

If background location is denied, users can still send emergency alerts while the application is open.

However, live location updates will stop when the application leaves the foreground.

Persistent Notification

While background location sharing is active, Android displays a persistent notification indicating that My Guardian Link is actively sharing the user’s location during an emergency.

Privacy Policy

The application’s Privacy Policy clearly explains:

  • what location data is collected,
  • when it is collected,
  • why it is collected,
  • who receives it,
  • how long it is retained,
  • how users control permission

In-App Permission Disclosure

Before requesting Android’s Allow All the Time permission, My Guardian Link displays the following disclosure:

Stay Protected During an Emergency

My Guardian Link uses your location to share your live location with your trusted contacts and authorized response coordinators during an active emergency.

If you allow background location, your location can continue updating even after you leave the app, helping responders locate you if you cannot keep the app open.

My Guardian Link does not continuously track your location and does not use your location for advertising.

Android Permissions Used

The application uses the following Android permissions:

  • ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION
  • ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION
  • ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION
  • FOREGROUND_SERVICE
  • FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATIO

Reviewer Notes

My Guardian Link is not a location-tracking application.

It is a personal safety application that uses location exclusively to support emergency alerts initiated by the user. Background location is requested only to maintain live location sharing during an active emergency, enabling trusted contacts and authorized response personnel to locate and assist the user if they are unable to keep the application open.

This permission is essential to the core functionality of the application and is not used for advertising, analytics, profiling, or continuous background tracking.

This document, together with the updated Privacy Policy and the in-app disclosure, satisfies Google’s primary review requirements for applications requesting ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION and gives reviewers a clear explanation of why the permission is necessary for My Guardian Link’s emergency response functionality.
